In a nutshell
Cold cuts with their intense aromas, enveloping flavors and soft, velvety textures are a delight for the palate that is never lacking in Fagagna. Here, however, it goes beyond the pleasure of sitting at the table with a nice board of cold cuts in front of you: thanks to the Pro Loco and the "Cjase Cocèl" Museum of Rural Life, every year the figure of the Purcitâr, or pork butcher, is celebrated. It is precisely the Purcitâr who keep alive the difficult art of pork butchery, made up of traditions and knowledge passed down through generations. A festival is dedicated to them every third Sunday in January, on the occasion of St. Anthony the Abbot: Sant Antoni fieste dal purcitâr. On this day, Friulian pork butchers gather in Fagagna for the blessing of the animals, meetings, conferences and, ça va sans dire, tastings of cured meats and cold cuts. Come closer, there is something for you too!
