Pumpkin Festival of Fagagna

The Museum of Peasant Life in Fagagna, which has always been attentive to re-propose the most significant moments of the peasant world of the past, invites you to the appointment with the pumpkin, an autumn product closely linked to peasant traditions. In fact, in autumn, along with the cob, pumpkins arrived at home, with the most varied shapes and different colors. The pumpkin festival is an opportunity to get together at the Museum, alive and animated by many volunteers at work, where we offer the taste of the past with zuf, (soup made with pumpkin and cornmeal, and many activities for the little ones. Old oral traditions also recall the games played by children, who enjoyed carving the hard rind of the pumpkin to create lis musates, which in the evening, after scraping together a few candle butts, they would place on the walls to scare mothers and grandmothers with harmless homemade monsters.
