BIG JUMP tiber 2023

Now in its third year is the Big Jump tiberino, a canoe excursion and river swim in the Tiber at Campo di Contra Farm in the Nazzano, Tevere-Farfa Regional Reserve a few kilometers north of Rome. The Big Jump is a Europe-wide river-related land regeneration initiative. It incentivizes European citizens to apply civil pressure, including territorial pressure, so that political agendas more forcefully address the demands of the European Water Directive: including improving the quantity of water in rivers and their quality so that all waterways are swimmable. Every year, as part of the European Big Jump initiative, convivial social and ecological awareness events are held along the rivers with a big final plunge, a signal to politicians at all levels to realize that there is still much to be done to protect and restore the ecological functionality of rivers as required by the Directive and its transposition at the Italian level. Under the patronage of the Nazzano Tevere Farfa Regional Reserve, and among the initiatives of the local "Media Valle del Tevere" River Contract, the International Tiber Descent community will gather on the river at Campo di Contra Farm for the Big Jump initiative.
