SHARRYLAND
Where is
What it is and where it is
The Villa, in an eclectic style, was built at the behest of Commendator Enrico Pagani, a well-known and influential figure in Corbetta. The idea was to combine different styles: from medieval to baroque passing through renaissance. The result is a stately home, elegant and full of surprises, set in a vast park with outbuildings.
Why it is special
To get to the villa you have to cross its park, which becomes a transitional place between Corbetta and this fascinating architectural jewel. As soon as we cross the threshold of the entrance gate, in fact, we are greeted by the park full of different tree species. Over the years it has withstood various damages and pruning and to this day some firs, cedars, beeches and limes planted at the time of the villa's construction have been preserved. Guiding us through this "grove" is an open path that leads us straight to the entrance porch of the building.
Not to be missed
It is at this moment that we realize how far, at least metaphorically, we have come since we left the streets of Corbetta. Two knights duel in front of our eyes. These are two black line graffiti that decorate the entrance to the villa and prepare us for the surprises we will find inside. We move inside the rooms between walls painted with plant or geometric patterns, stained glass windows decorated with sinuous and elegant lines, and a scenic fireplace. An authentic Wonder!
Curiosity
One might think of it as a house museum, but Villa Pagani della Torre is very active: its rooms have been granted for use to several associations active in Corbetta. This poses a small problem for the curious: it is not easy to get inside. Fortunately, the Pro Loco and the Municipal Administration come to our rescue and include the villa among those that can be visited every first Sunday in May during the "Walk among the Villas." An event not to be missed!
