What it is and where it is located
When visiting Corbetta, especially in warm weather, it is unthinkable not to drop by VIlla Frisiani Ferrario Olivares Park and enjoy its beauty. But as the name implies, there is more besides the park: the villa. A beautiful building with a U-shaped plan and a facade lightened by arches and small columns. Such an elegant villa lends itself well to housing the town hall, which makes it a bit of a home for all Corbetta citizens.
Why it is special
The elegance of the facade is given by a double order of seven round arches, supported by very slender columns that, on the upper floor, rest on the solid balustrade, emphasized on the outside by horizontal decorative bands. Inside, however, in addition to the frescoes that embellish most of the rooms, now administrative offices, the four large fireplaces on the ground floor and the coffered ceiling stand out. Being the seat of the municipality is certainly an honor, but it also carries a disadvantage: it cannot be visited for tourist purposes. But at least the exterior is always visible and one can console oneself by enjoying the park.
A bit of history
There is no record of the villa's earliest history. However, it is thought that there was once a 16th-century monastery here. The villa would be the result of the transformation of this monastery. What is certain is that the villa dates back to the 17th century and was built by the Counts Frisiani and then passed to the Olivares and finally to the Ferrario family and represents one of the aristocratic villas in the Corbetta area. In the 1980s, the building became the seat of the Town Hall.
