Sasso Gordona
Sasso Gordona is an imposing mountain, isolated from the others, predominantly rocky and propped up with defensive structures dating back to World War I, when it had become a real strategic fortress. In fact, it was here that the Cadorna Line, part of the Ceresio-Lario sector of the O.A.F.N. (Occupazione Avanzata Frontiera Nord) line, had been developed, created as a result of speculation that Switzerland, a nation where German was the predominant language, was a possible ally of the Germanic army.
New paths for new adventures
Given the richness of this mountain, it is not surprising that there are many paths leading to the discovery of its secrets. One of these starts from Località Posa di Schignano, but it is also possible to set out from Pian delle Alpi, and it is from here that we will start, along a route of about 15 kilometers with a positive elevation gain of 240 m and a maximum altitude of 1410 meters above sea level, characteristics that make it suitable for experienced hikers. The recommended time to tackle it is from the spring to autumn season in the absence of rain.
