SHARRYLAND
Where is
What it is and where it is
It is said that the important thing is not the destination, but the journey to get there. In a way, the summit of Mount Navegna, at 1508 meters high, confirms and denies this phrase at the same time. The fact is that being here, with the 3600 hectares of the reserve at our feet, is such a strong emotion that it is almost difficult to handle. One has to sit and with one's eyes retrace the path one has just taken, and that is how the joy of having reached the goal is enriched by the satisfaction of the challenges faced, the smiles and the discoveries along the way, and journey and goal merge into one perfect moment.
Why it is special
And it is precisely by thinking back to one's steps from up here that one's heart returns to the woods, beech and oak forests, pastures and meadows, centuries-old chestnut groves, rock walls framing gorges, streams and ravines... and then, in the distance, shining with the reflections of the sun: the two artificial lakes of Salto and Turano, as if to add magic to this all-encompassing nature. Now you can see why the reserve is also called "the terrace on the two lakes. And the lucky ones, they will also meet a golden eagle, which makes its nest on Mount Cervia.
Not to be missed
Such a beautiful place has also attracted fortress and castle builders for centuries. That's why it happens that the eye lands on clusters of rocks and stones, which often turn out to be ancient ruins, or even fascinating and vital villages, rich in traditions, hospitable people and unforgettable flavors. Almost all of the villages are crisscrossed by a network of trails of about 100 kilometers, which then allow you to return to the wilderness, and climb up to the mountain peaks.
