Revedin Bolasco Park
Enchanting English garden dotted with ancient trees and water mirrors

What it is and where it is
Just a stone's throw from the center of Castelfranco Veneto lies this corner of paradise: majestic plants, small lakes and bridges, patches of underbrush, knolls, statues and architecture from another era: Revedin Bolasco Park holds the promise of enchanting visitors with fairy-tale atmospheres. A guided tour through a pathway among 100-year-old trees reveals the design of this park, which was created thanks to the contributions of the most celebrated garden architects of the 19th century.
Why it is special
The park's backdrop is the wonderful Villa Revedin, a prestigious example of a Veneto villa, built between 1852 and 1865. Walking through the park one encounters two dovecote towers, the cavana (shelter for boats), the Hispano-Moorish-style greenhouse, and the Cavallerizza, a spectacular amphitheater surrounded by no fewer than 54 17th-century statues, 44 of them by Marinali.
A bit of history
The site where the Villa and Park are settled today was formerly called Paradise and, before belonging to the Bolasco family, passed from the hands of the Tempestas, to those of the Morosinis and from 1509, to the Corners. In 1808 the entire estate was purchased by the Revedin family, which had the villa and park designed. The entire complex was entrusted to the ingenuity of Giambattista Meduna, author of the designs for the La Fenice Theater in Venice. Today the park is owned by the University of Padua.
Trivia
The park covers 8.5 hectares and has vegetation of about 1,500 trees of 65 different species; more than 30 specimens are between 75 and 125 years old. Within the park is a navigable lake with an area of about 2.5 hectares.
