In Stra, on the Brenta Riviera inside the 17th-century Villa Foscarini-Rossi, it is possible to take a journey through the history of international costume thanks to the wonderful footwear expertly displayed to the public. Once inside the gardens, one enters the wing dedicated to the museum: thus begins the immersive journey through design. The models become true art installations that coexist with the noble spaces of the villa, creating a fascinating and awe-inspiring journey through the 1,500 models signed by designers from maisons such as Dior, Christian Lacroix, Pucci, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Kenzo.
Why it is special
This place is a testament to the vocation of an area, that of the Brenta Riviera, a "world district" of footwear for decades that has catalyzed and converged in these places the brightest, most prestigious and creative signatures of international fashion. The entrepreneurial and productive history thus enters in design continuity to the construction of beauty, the historical vocation of this territory, which finds its genesis precisely in the Venetian villas.
A bit of history
Born on the initiative of Comm. Luigino Rossi, the footwear museum displays the most representative pieces created by the Rossimoda shoe factory during its decades of activity. The facility was inaugurated on June 24, 1995 to mark the company's 50th anniversary. The museum is housed in Stra in the 17th-century Villa Foscarini_Rossi, which was created in 1602 thanks to the Venetian nobleman Jacopo Foscarini. In the following century it became the home of one of the last doges of the Serenissima, Marco Foscarini.
Curiosities
Of note are the educational workshops aimed at schools, which are run by the Museum's operators, differentiated by school grade and can be tailored to the specific needs of teachers and students.
