Where is
What is it and where is the small lake of San Benedetto
Among the hills of the Simbruini Mountains Park, a short distance from Rome, there is a waterfall that cascades into a picturesque pool of water. It is thesmall lake of San Benedetto, which owes its name to its proximity to the beautiful monastery of San Benedetto in Subiaco. This small oasis gathered in the green, fed by the waters of the Aniene River , knows how to give peace and adventure to those who approach its banks.
Why it's special: activities at the pond of San Benedetto
A popular feature of San Benedetto Pond is the chance to get some exercise in nature. You need to arrive prepared, though: comfortable shoes for the walk from the parking lot to the lake shore (it's a trail, so flip-flops are best left safely in your backpack for now). Once here, weather permitting, you can don your swimsuit and dive into the clear waters of the lake, or walk around the surrounding area.
Don't miss: when to visit St. Benedict's pond.
In recent years, St. Benedict's Pond has proved to be very photogenic, attracting many people on weekends. But there is a trick to enjoying it: forget the summer weekends, and come to see it during the week, especially in spring, when nature awakens, or in autumn, when everything is tinged with magnificent warm colors. It will be the most beautiful experience you can have, little but sure, and with few people around!
