The Ionian Foothills - Céntrache
It is the second stop on the road through the hills between Squillace to Chiaravalle in the presence of the Serralta di San Vito
Where is

This municipality is located along the Ionian foothills.
At the foot of the Serralta di San Vito
Céntrache (m 458) is a small town on the road that between cultivated undulations connects Squillace to Chiaravalle Centrale. Behind, beyond the first hills, the ridge that from Mount Serralta di San Vito (m 103) reaches Mount Covello (m 848).
A history that harks back to the time of the Norman counts.
Near the town flows the Caporale stream, which in this stretch fed several mills, continuing winding its way to the confluence of the Beltrame and its outlet to the sea at Soverato. The settlement, probably of Norman foundation, developed around the ancient route of the road, which narrows between low houses and an ups and downs of alleys. This is the part of the town that is transformed into a diffuse stage during the days of the Borgo delle Radici event.
In the village atmospheres out of time
Crossing the village, like travelers from the past, suddenly the facade of the 17th-century Matrice dell'Annunziata church appears. Inside is the wooden statue of the patron saint St. Onofrio, honored on the second Sunday in August. Another event of note is the Feast of the Rosary, which includes an evening torchlight procession.
A small jewel of Byzantine architecture
Just outside the village is the small church of St. Nicholas Ceramidìo, of probable Byzantine origins, as suggested by the cult of Greek tradition; it is a singular circular building with a lowered dome and exposed stone structure, elements that underwrite its early medieval matrix. Extensive and evocative, the rural scenery that forms its backdrop.
