The path of St. Francis

Where the St. Francis trail starts

The starting point is in Cantuccio, Winkel (hamlet of Caminata, of the municipality of Campo Tures). Next to the bar there is a parking lot where we can leave the car, and the thoughts and worries of everyday life. The path ahead is a short journey to the conquest of serenity.But what is the St. Francis Trail? It is an easy trail that enters the forest, winds and climbs the mountain and passes by the Riva waterfalls. One of the most beautiful surprises is arriving at the viewpoint where you can admire one of the most picturesque landscapes in the Taufers-Ahrntal valley.

Walking and spirituality: the 10 stations and the arrival chapel

It takes about two hours to walk the entire trail, which can increase if you decide to take on the proposed spiritual experience as well: there are 10 meditative stations along the way, which combined with the peaceful nature walk, help you get in touch with yourself and the world around you. All this leads to the Chapel of St. Francis and St. Clare, a small building made of stones and wood. A poor environment, just as St. Francis taught, where one can listen to God's message in communion with nature.

A community project, carried out with love by citizens

A curiosity: many people participated in the construction of this track. Workers, carpenters, sculptors, student sculptors; almost all of them worked as volunteers or made works for free. The youth of the deanery have also been very active, as well as being among the promoters of this initiative. They were also joined by parish councils from around the district, and many private individuals who supported the initiative with various donations.
