What is it and where is the theater of Ostra
The "La Vittoria" theater in Ostra is part of the number of small historic theaters in the Marche region, favors that maintain their artistic and cultural function with the elegance that distinguishes them. Beyond the horseshoe shape, the boxes and the soft velvets of the armchairs, the Ostra theater preserves an extra treasure: the wonderful 19th-century backdrops.
Not to be missed: the seven nineteenth-century backdrops.
They play a starring role on stage: seven wonderfully crafted nineteenth-century backdrops, reconstructing architecture and settings that knew how to make audiences of the 1800s dream as much as those of today. Music, song, speech and dance told of Ostra, embraced by the seven backdrops that ideally represent a story rooted in a distant time.
Why it's special: when inspiration starts from the backdrop
Each backdrop inspired a setting of the unprecedented chamber opera "The Stories of Ostra." The music was composed by faculty members of the Puccini International Opera Composition Academy in Lucca and finalists of the Composition Masterclass, which concluded in Ostra this past summer.
A bit of history
When the theater lost its function and was abandoned, the backdrops also followed its fate. Today, however, they have been recovered. In this regard, it is interesting to know that the restoration was also carried out thanks to the director of the Versailles Museums who prepared an initial restoration.
Curiosity: national monument and Unesco candidacy.
The Ostra Theater (rebuilt in 1863) along with 60 others in the Marche region will also be considered a national monument, strengthening the Unesco candid acy for recognition as a "Historic Theater of the Marche." The requirements are: construction dating back at least 100 years, and programming aimed exclusively at live performance activities with financial support from the state.
