Crete Senesi

Hello I am Giulia and I am introducing you to a mysterious land of lunar landscapes: the Crete Senesi. Here, in this arid, stingy, difficult land, parish churches and fortresses have sprung up to defend the communication routes; here saints, hermits and prophets have lived; here the Republic of Siena had its granary; here the land offers gifts from the depths of time and soil, such as thermal waters and travertine. Ambrogio Lorenzetti depicts it in his "Effects of Good Government" in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena, which is a stone's throw from here. But if you really want to understand this land, I invite you to tiptoe into it and meet the many small local associations, producers, artisans, entrepreneurs: those who give it life and beauty every day. We are in the Crete Senesi, my home.
