In a nutshell
On the first Sunday in October, Marino dresses up and its historic center is filled with bunches of grapes and vine leaves to pay homage to Our Lady of the Rosary, the victory of the Battle of Lepanto, and of course the grape harvest.
The festival begins in the morning with a religious procession, during which the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary is carried - on an 18th-century float. The festivities continue in the afternoon with a historical procession in costume, live music and stalls, and with the event's most famous moment, the "Miracle of the Wine-Giving Fountains." Around 5 p.m., white wine comes out of the spouts of the beautiful "Fountain of the Moors" decorated for the occasion with bunches of grapes and is offered to the public. The "Miracle" lasts about an hour and a half, while floats parade through the streets of the town.
During the festival there is also a fun competition between Marino's districts, which compete in the barrel relay, barrel race and grape-pressing.
