Rites of Holy Week Nissena

Caltanissetta lives Holy Week with passion, devotion and with the participation of an entire community. There are so many initiatives that make the Nissena Easter events among the most authentic and wonderful in Italy. A highlight is definitely that of the Fogliamari who, on the morning of Good Friday, go to the Sanctuary of the Crucifix Lord of the City without ever leaving the statue, keeping alive the "Ladata" the traditional multi-voice song still in use in different corners of the island.
