In a nutshell
Every year in the third week of August, Pontremoli dresses in medieval clothes during the historical reenactment "Medievalis."
The event celebrates the granting of the Free Commune diploma by Emperor Frederick II in 1226. For four days, the streets of the village are filled with markets, carriages, knights and figurants in medieval clothing.
There are also duels, falconry shows, food stands with traditional medieval dishes and drinks, dances and an exciting tournament, the "Disfida della Cortina di Cazzaguerra," in which the village's three historical factions face each other.
