The Focarazza - Palio dello Stollo -

In Santa Caterina, a small village in the municipality of Roccalbegna, an ancient fire ritual has been celebrated for centuries, both evocative and exciting. At dusk on November 24, after the priest's blessing, a giant bonfire is lit above the hill Poggio alle Forche, made of branches arranged to form a haystack, with the trunk of Cerro wood the "Stollo" in the center to symbolize the body of Santa Caterina, which free from the burned branches, is contended by the men of the contrade to win it and lean it against the wall of their contrada, as an act of devotion to the Saint. The whole village participates and around the Propitiatory Fire the feast is celebrated.
