Lavender Festival in Tuscania

One of the highlights of the Tuscania area are the lavender fields. Between the end of June and the beginning of July, the lavender fields reach bloom. And that's when the "Lavender Festival" takes place in the beautiful village of the Viterbo area. The scent of lavender envelops the streets of the historic center, which is tinged with lilac shades of this wonderful plant. The event exalts lavender, making it the protagonist of themed events, markets, concerts, exhibitions of local artists and artisans. During the days of the festival there is a chance to learn more about the various uses of the aromatic plant widely used in cosmetics (for creams and soaps), aromatherapy and the distillation of essential oils, effective as repellents against mosquitoes and other insects. Also present are food stands offering unusual specialties where lavender is a key ingredient, such as honey and ice cream. During the event some companies also give the opportunity to visit the beautiful and colorful lavender fields.
