Montoriese Carnival

The Montoriese Carnival born in the 1920s is distinguished from all others by its own special procession. On the evening of Shrove Tuesday the Carnival Dies, amid much merriment and celebration, the next day a spartan wooden coffin is paraded through the medieval streets of Montorio, accompanied by the town's band, which will alternate requiem and cheerful music amid the applause and laughter, of the people still celebrating. There will be no shortage of traditional float parades and plenty of music, entertainment, food and drink.
