In the Court of the Princess - Max Ernst
The Medieval Village of Vigoleno and Surrealism
In a nutshell
The works exhibited at the Beata Vergine delle Grazie Oratory are prints that German Surrealist Max Ernst made in his novel in pictures, "Une Semaine de Bonté." In the 1920s and 1930s, the Borgo di Vigoleno enjoyed prestige as a cultural and historical court and fascinated many intellectuals and show business personalities.
In addition to paying homage to the artist and recalling his stay at the Castle and Princess Maria Ruspoli's salon and thus his connection with the Borgo, the Exhibition features in-depth videos on the collage technique and symbolism used by Ernst.
