The South Maremma Spa

The Petriolo spa area is located in the Basso Merse Nature Reserve, along the banks of the Farma River in the Ombrone Valley. Here there are some natural pools with free access, in which flow the prodigious waters already known since Roman times for their beneficial properties. The high temperature of the water (43°C) also makes them ideal for a winter outing.

Relaxation at the Petriolo Thermal Baths

No introduction is needed for the famous hot springs of Saturnia, in the province of Grosseto. The Cascate del Mulino waterfalls, or Cascatelle, as the locals call them, are the jewel in the crown of this earthly paradise: a series of pools carved by the Gorello stream that descend from the ancient mill in a succession of dips and splashes, at a constant 37.5°C.

The thermal parks of Sorano and Vulci

For those who prefer a few more comforts, however, the thermal park of Sorano and the thermal baths of Vulci are facilities equipped with a spa and thermal pools. The history of the Sorano park is very ancient, and certainly the hot spring was already known to the Etruscans and Romans. A distinctive element of the park is the "Bagno dei Frati," a natural pool located in the woods and used by the friars who frequented the nearby Pieve from the 15th century.

The Vulci Thermal Baths are another example of a very old tradition handed down through the centuries that adapts to its era without distorting itself. Nestled in the Tuscia viterberse, the facility harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding nature: four splendid pools of natural thermal water stand out against the gentle lines of the Maremma countryside.
